Computing

For all children to feel safe online and build expertise using modern computing technology in preparation for an increasingly digital future.
We want pupils to use computational thinking to solve problems creatively and logically. Children at Claremont will create programs, systems and a range of content using brand new hardware and exciting software. We want our pupils to become digitally literate, and to express themselves with technology as well as they could with a pencil. We want to model and educate our pupils on how to use technology positively, safely and responsibly, so they can become active participants in a digital world.

  • Subject knowledge is drawn from the national curriculum and taught through Teach Computing, a new DfE approved scheme designed by a consortium of STEM providers.
  • New equipment has been invested in to provide children with up-to-date software and hardware to use in school.
  • Staff training has taken place to ensure staff are familiar with and excited to use new equipment.
  • Projects incorporating new technology are planned for children to apply new skills across the curriculum.
  • Digital leaders are members of each class from years 4 – 6, voted by their classmates to promote computing. They lead e-safety broadcasts, provide expertise in lessons, manage equipment and attend meetings.
