Emergency Closures

If the school needs to close for any reason we will make every effort to ensure that all parents, children and visitors are made aware of the situation as soon as possible - usually via telephone, texts and email.

In the case of closure because of bad weather conditions, the school notifies Kent County Council about school closures who ensure that various radio stations report the school has closed. Parents can also log on to the Kent County Council website for more information.

Extreme Weather Arrangements - All the ways you can find out

1. School Website - There will be an announcement posted on the home page as soon as possible after the decision to close the school has been made. However, if the bad weather is widespread, the website may be difficult to access (due to the heavy demand at the server) both for us to update and for you to read, but we will do our best.
2. Schoolcomms - an e-mail will be sent to you via Schoolcomms once the decision to close has been made. A text message will also be sent to the primary mobile phone number listed on your account.
3. A list of school closures will be posted on the Kent County Council website at https://www.kentclosures.co.uk/. Kent radio stations will use this list to broadcast closures.
4. Local Radio – Listen to Radio Kent in the morning, where regular announcements are made regarding school closures. However, if the bad weather is widespread, it can take some time before our school is added to their list. The list of school closures is also displayed on www.bbc.co.uk/radiokent. Follow the links for school closures. Again, if the weather is widespread, it may take a short while before our school is added to the list. www.kmfm.co.uk is also a reliable local radio link to access local schools' closure information.
