Welcome from the Chair of Governors
At Claremont, the Governing Body works closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to ensure all pupils achieve their full potential, enjoy their school experience, and are kept safe.
Our governors are volunteers who bring a wide range of skills, experience and professional expertise across the operational areas of the school, helping to support effective strategic leadership.
We work collaboratively as a team, supporting our staff in a positive and constructive manner while valuing their professionalism, expertise, commitment and dedication. Claremont is fortunate to have an exceptional staff team who go above and beyond every day to help pupils achieve academically, socially and emotionally within a calm, happy and safe environment.
Governors visit the school regularly as part of our monitoring role. We have link governors for key curriculum areas, as well as designated leads for Curriculum, Safeguarding, SEND, Health and Safety, Allergy Awareness, Personnel and Finance. Through our committee meetings and Full Governing Body meetings, we review school performance, monitor progress, oversee policies and resources, and consider how we can continue to improve outcomes for all children. We also act as a critical friend, providing both support and challenge while promoting the school's vision and values.
As governors, we have strategic responsibility for the school's direction and hold the Headteacher to account for educational performance, pupil outcomes and staff performance management. We oversee the school's finances, ensuring the long-term financial viability of the school. This supports school development, the effective use of resources and the delivery of the greatest benefit to our pupils.
As Chair of Governors, I am immensely proud of Claremont and of our dedicated staff and governors. With the continued support of our parents and wider school community, I look forward to working together to ensure every child enjoys a rewarding learning journey and thrives in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.

Governing Body News
Here at Claremont, we’re looking for volunteers to join our governor team.
We currently have vacancies for co-opted governors and are looking to our local community for volunteers who can bring fresh perspectives, skills and experience to help shape our school and support the staff and leadership as they educate our children.
What we're looking for:
- Commitment to improving outcomes for children
- Good interpersonal skills and willingness to learn
- Time to attend meetings and occasional school visits
As a governor, you would be part of board-level strategic decision-making, experience which could help your career too. Whether you have expertise in finance, HR, law, business, or simply a passion for education and community, we'd love to hear from you.
